Form modes let you customize content creation for specific use cases. This will help you create forms to match your goals faster by switching between different modes.
You can find form modes in the top left corner of the Content panel. Click the dropdown list to view and choose between different form modes.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the modes you’ll find in your form:
- Universal mode: This mode is enabled by default when creating a new form. You can create any form with the Universal mode. To add branching logic, scores and calculations, go to the Workflow panel, or switch to one of the modes described below. If you’re new to Typeform, you can learn how to create your first form here.
- Lead qualification mode: This mode uses the power of AI to generate a lead qualification form for you. When setting up the form, you’ll be asked to provide information about your company, and AI will create a form targeting the ideal customer profile of your business.
Here’s what happens when you switch to this mode:
- You’ll be prompted to provide information about your company, like the name and description of your business.
- A lead qualification form will be generated for you with questions automatically created based on the information you’ve provided.
- You’ll be able to set lead scoring rules and show different Endings to respondents based on their lead score.
- You’ll also be able to send follow-up notifications to your sales team or to your hot leads based on their lead status.

- Knowledge quiz mode (available on all paid plans): This mode lets you assess and engage your audience by defining correct answers, assigning scores and providing real-time feedback. Respondents will see which of their answers are correct as they go, reinforcing learning or highlighting knowledge gaps.
Here’s what switching to this mode does to a form:
- Automatically adds an Ending with score ranges to your form.
- Allows you to set correct answers and scores for choice question types.
- Allows you to show correct answers to your respondents, and to customize real-time feedback on the form level.
- Automatically adds Knowledge quiz variables to your form. You can show these to your respondents with Recall information, and view them under your individual Responses in the Results panel.
You can find out everything about the Knowledge quiz mode here.
- Match quiz mode: This mode uses the power of AI to generate a personality quiz or a product recommendation quiz for you, and assigns answers to endings with matching rules. With this mode, you can build a form to map people to different endings based on their answers to your questions.
Here's what happens when you switch to this mode:
- You'll be prompted to provide information to set up a personality quiz or a product recommendation quiz with the help of AI.
- You'll be able to add matching rules to show different quiz endings based on how people answer your questions.
- A point will be added to the matching ending each time they select an answer. The highest-scoring ending will be displayed once they finish the quiz.
- Your respondents will see a quiz ending with the product or personality type that best matches their answers.
