You can export your Results Summary as a CSV file and get an overview of how respondents answered your form. Responses are summarized to help you analyze your results faster.
The Results Summary page is available on all plans, excluding Typeform legacy plans.
Workspace members with can edit and can view roles will have access to export the Results Summary.
Note! Open-ended text responses are not supported in the Results Summary CSV export. If you want to export all responses including open-ended text responses, check out this article on how to export responses.
Export your Results Summary
1. Open your form, click Results and then Summary.
2. You can apply filters to your Summary by clicking Filters.
Then select what you would like to filter your Summary by and click Apply.
3. Next, click Share and select CSV under Download as.
4. A pop-up will appear, noting that open-ended text responses are not included in the export. Click Export.
If you've applied filters or a filter view to your Summary, you can select if you would like to export the filtered view or the original view. We'll select Original view and then click Export.
The following question types can’t be exported:
- Short text
- Long text
- Video Answers
- Clarify with AI
- FAQ with AI
- Date
- Contact Info
- Phone Number
- Website
- Payment
- File Upload
- Calendly
5. When your file is ready, you can download it to your device. Click Download file.
Note! The link to download the CSV file will expire after 24 hours. If you need a new link, click Export to .csv again in the Summary tab.
You can then open the CSV file from your downloads folder. The name of the file will be titled response_summary.csv.
Understanding your CSV export
You can open your CSV export in any spreadsheet program, such as Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, LibreOffice Calc, and CSV File Viewer.
In our example below, we’ve used Google Sheets to view our CSV file.
At the top of the CSV export, you’ll see:
- The form’s title
- Export date and time (corresponds to the date and time set on your browser)
- Total number of responses
- Filters applied - Yes or No
Different question types will display different summary information.
Choice question types will display the following columns:
- Choice options
- Number of responses for each choice option
- Percentage of responses for each choice option
Choice question types are:
- Multiple Choice
- Dropdown
- Picture Choice
- Yes/No
- Legal
- Checkbox
Below is an example of a Multiple Choice question type.
If you’ve enabled the “Other” option in a Multiple Choice question, you’ll see the choice option listed as Other but you won’t see the open-ended text a respondent has entered for the “Other” option. You can view open-ended text responses in the Summary or Responses tab.
The NPS question type is broken down into two sections. The first section displays the following:
- NPS Score
- Choices (Promoters, Passives, Detractors)
- Response count for Promoters, Passives, and Detractors
- Percentage of Promoters, Passives, and Detractors
The second section of the NPS question types displays:
- Choice options (1-10)
- Number of responses for each choice option
- Percentage of responses for each choice option
Rating and Opinion Scale question types will display the following:
- Mean, Median, and Standard deviation (descriptive statistics)
- Choice options
- Number of responses for each choice option
- Percentage of responses for each choice option
The Number question type will display the Mean, Median, Min number, Max number, and Standard deviation. The Min and Max numbers are the smallest and largest values in a data set.
The Matrix question type will display the following:
- Row items
- Response count for each column rating
- Percentage of each column rating
The Ranking question type is broken down into two sections. The first section displays the following:
- Rank from highest to lowest
- Ranking options
- Mean
The second section displays the following:
- Ranking options
- Ranking position with number and percentages of responses per ranking option
Ranking position is based on how many ranking options you have. For example, if you have 5 options to rank, the ranking position would be between 1 and 5.
