With this integration, people can upload files directly to your Box account from a form. If you already use Box in your workflow - for example, if you collect portfolio submissions or job applications - now Typeform fits in seamlessly.
What you need:
- A Typeform account on the Plus, Business, Growth Flow, Talent, Growth Custom, or Enterprise plan
- The Contacts and automations add-on
- A form with at least one File Upload question
- Box account (any plan)
Connecting to the Box integration in the Connect panel only allows you to send every file uploaded to your form to Box, without any other conditions. By integrating Box in Automations, the integration becomes an action you can place in a workflow, so you can decide when an action is triggered and what else happens around it. For example, you can send an email automation to your recruitment team when a CV uploaded by an applicant lands in your Box folder.
The Box integration is only available for Form submission automations. Since it’s a file-sharing integration that requires a File Upload question in a form, it can’t be triggered by Contact activities or Scheduled automations.
This integration does not currently import existing results. This means once your form is connected to Dropbox, you’ll see new submissions arrive, but not previously collected responses.
Note that you can't send files to this integration if you have login-only file access enabled in your account.
If you're looking to connect Typeform to Box without automations, take a look at our guide on how to send file uploads to Box in the Connect panel.
The Box integration is not available on Typeform accounts that host their data on the EU Data Center.
Create a Box automation
1. From your Workspace, click Automations.
2. Click + Create automation.
3. Select Form submission as the trigger for your automation.
4. Give your automation a name by clicking the default name in the top left corner.
5. Type in the name of your automation and click Save. We’ll enter Send files to Box.
6. Click the dropdown list and select a Workspace from your account.
Now scroll through to select or use the search bar to search for a form in that workspace.
7. Choose the submission type that will trigger the automation. You can select from the following options:
- Completed: send automation when a respondent completes the form
- Partial submit point: send automation when a respondent gets to a Partial Submit Point in your form
- Ending screen: send automation when a respondent lands on a specific Ending screen
8. Click the + icon in the middle to add an action.
9. Then select Send to integration.
10. Click the Box icon in the list of integrations to connect it.
11. Now we’ll ask you to connect your Box account. Select your account from the dropdown list or click add a new account.
Warning! You cannot create a new Box account here. To do so, visit box.com and click Register.
12. Once you’re logged in, Box will ask you to grant Typeform access to your account. Click Grant access to Box.
If your form doesn’t have a File Upload question, you’ll see this warning, and we’ll take you back to the Content panel so you can add one. Once you’ve done this, go back to Automations and start again.
13. Now we’ll ask you to connect your File Upload question to a Box folder. Choose your question from the left dropdown menu and the Box folder from the right.
You can connect as many File Upload questions as you like! Click + Add to map more File Upload questions, click the trashcan icon next to a question to delete it, or Clear all to delete all your mappings.
14. Once you’ve connected all the File Upload questions you want, click Finish.
15. When you’re happy with the setup of your automation, click Activate.
You’ll see the Box integration is active. You can click Stop automation to turn it off.
Warning! File Upload question limits still apply with this integration. This means people can upload files of up to 10MB in size, and your Typeform account has a limit of 4GB total file storage.
If you want to avoid these limits, you can instead offer a link to your Box account from a Statement question, which respondents can follow to upload files.
