Test responses don’t count toward your response limits. They also do not affect your form performance metrics.
When you generate a test response, the system treats the submission as a near-real response to help you test your workflow:
- Realistic data: Responses are generated by AI to ensure the text and selections make sense for your questions.
- Integrations and webhooks: Generating a test response will trigger your active integrations (like Google Sheets or Slack) and webhooks, allowing you to test your data flow.
- Analytics: Test responses appear in your Summary and Insights pages so you can see a preview of what the data looks like there, but they don’t count towards form performance metrics e.g. completion rate, starts, and submissions.
- URL Parameters: The generator provides fake data for any URL parameters you have set up.
How to generate test responses
You can generate sample responses directly from the Results section of any published form.
1. Click on the Results tab (your form must be published for this tab to display).
2. Then click on the Responses tab.
3. If your form hasn't received any responses yet, you can click the Generate test response button in the middle of the table view. Once clicked, the AI will create a new submission with realistic answers tailored to your specific questions.
4. It can take a few moments to create the test response. When your response has been generated you’ll see a success message at the bottom of your screen that looks like this:

Current limitations
Branching logic is not currently supported with test responses. At the moment, the generator treats your form as a linear list. This means the AI will generate data for questions that would normally be hidden or skipped by branching logic
The following question types are currently not supported with test responses:
- Video and Audio
- Clarify with AI
- FAQ with AI
- File Upload
- Payment
Frequently Asked Questions
Do test responses count towards my response limit?
No. AI-generated test responses are free and do not count towards your response limit.
Can I delete the test data?
Yes. You can delete AI-generated responses from your Results table just like any other response if you want to clear your dashboard.
Why does the data look different every time?
Since the data is generated by AI, it creates unique, contextually relevant answers each time you click the button to provide a variety of testing scenarios.
How do I know which responses are test data and which are real?
Test responses are tagged with “AI Generated” so you can immediately see which are real and which are test responses.
