Contact enrichment (Beta)

Contact enrichment (Beta) lets you automatically enhance your contacts with third-party data such as demographic information—right inside Typeform. Similar to how you can enrich a form response, this feature helps you learn more about your audience and personalize your outreach.

When adding a contact, you must include an email address. It’s required for both creating the contact and enabling enrichment.

Plan availability and match rates

Contact enrichment is available on all Growth plans. Depending on your subscription, your plan includes a monthly or annual enrichment limit. You can find all the information about your plan here.

B2B & B2C enrichment: Our data enrichment feature is designed to enrich business email addresses (e.g. myname@typeform.com) with professional contact and company details and personal email addresses (e.g. myname@gmail.com) with demographic and other information. Not all business and personal email addresses will be enriched. Depending on your respondent audience and industry, you may get various match rates.

On Growth Pro and Growth Custom plans, enrichment is optimized to return a higher match rate. However, if no data is available for a specific email address, enrichment data will not be returned.

On the Growth Custom plan, enrichment may return additional data points.

Plan Match rate
Growth Essentials Generally medium, depending on industry
Growth Pro Generally high, depending on industry
Growth Custom Generally high, depending on industry

Privacy considerations: By activating this feature, you'll be sharing email addresses with third-party providers in exchange for data enrichment. Make sure to notify your respondents and obtain their consent to comply with local laws and regulations, like GDPR. Read more about privacy considerations while using the data enrichment feature here.

What is contact enrichment?

When a contact is created manually or via a form response sync in Typeform, we can automatically enrich it with third-party data such as demographic information.

Contact enrichment allows you to gain deeper insights into your contacts such as their company, role, and location.

Note! Currently, it’s not possible to enrich contacts in bulk from a CSV import, enrich contacts created from past responses, or enrich existing contacts already in your Typeform account.

Contact enrichment uses the same credit pool as Response enrichment. Each successful match consumes one enrichment credit from your account.

How to set up contact enrichment

  1. Log into your account and click the Contacts tab.

2. Click Contact settings at the bottom of the Contacts page.

3. Turn on the toggle for Enrich contacts on creation.

Once enabled, any new contact that has been created manually or synced from a form response will be automatically enriched, as long as:

  • You're on a Growth plan, and
  • You have enrichment credits available.

How contact enrichment works

We send the contact’s email address to our enrichment partners (ZoomInfo and FullContact). If either partner returns a match, enrichment data is added to the contact. In the unlikely scenario that an enrichment partner experiences an outage, the request to enrich a contact will time out after a few seconds, and the contact will not be enriched. Currently, there isn't a capability to re-enrich a contact after an outage. However, as a workaround, you could delete the contact and re-add them manually after the outage to enrich the contact.

If there are no credits left, enrichment will not be attempted.

Viewing contact enrichment data

Log into your account and click the Contacts tab.

In the contacts table

You'll see a column showing which contacts contain enrichment data.

Click the three dots in the column header and select Sort by A to Z or Sort by Z to A to reorder the column.

If you’ve created a contact list you can also hide the Data enrichment column from the list by clicking on the Manage table icon and clicking the eye icon next to Data enrichment. Find out more about sorting and managing columns in your contacts table here.

You can also filter your contacts to view only those with enrichment data added:

  1. On the Contacts page, click Filter.

2. Now you’ll see the option to choose a property from the dropdown list under Add filter.

3. Click the dropdown list to view your properties, and select Data enrichment.

4. In the Select operator dropdown, choose Is not empty to show only contacts that contain enrichment data.

5. Add any other filters or filter groups as required, then click Apply.

Learn more about filtering your contacts here.

In the contact sidebar

  1. Click the View icon to open the Contact.

If enrichment was successful, you’ll see a quick preview of the data at the bottom of the contact sidebar.

2. Click Show all in the sidebar.

A modal will open where you can explore all available enrichment data for that contact.

Click Copy data to copy the data to your clipboard or Close to go back to the contact.

There’s also a small label at the top of the contact sidebar showing that enrichment data is available.

If enrichment was unsuccessful, you’ll see a message that looks like this:

In a future release, enrichment data will flow automatically into contact properties. This will make contact enrichment even more powerful by letting you use enriched data in contact lists and automations.

Contact enrichment limit

Depending on your subscription, your plan includes a monthly or annual enrichment limit. Learn more about Data enrichment limits here.

When you've used over 75% of your monthly limit, we'll warn you on your Workspace when you log in to your account.

We'll also notify you by email when you've reached 50%, 75%, 90%, and 100% of your Data enrichment limit. If you've reached your enrichment limit, future contacts and responses will not be enriched.

You can also view how many contacts and responses you've enriched for the month in the Plan & billing section of your account.
