Show your respondents the correct answer

Want to give your respondents instant feedback when they answer a quiz question? It’s simple to do using Logic.

So you’ve created a quiz (if you haven’t before you can read our guide on creating a quiz) and want to let people know if they’re right or wrong as they move through it? Easy. You just need to employ the help of logic.

If you're on a paid plan, check out how you can use Knowledge quiz mode to show respondents feedback on quizzes.

Note: Logic isn't available on our mobile builder just yet. Edit your typeform on a desktop to get the full power of logic!

How to display the correct answer to a question

To build this, you need to add logic to your questions and use Statements to display the correct answer.

1. Add two Statement questions right after your quiz or test question: one to display if respondents are correct and another to let them know if they are wrong.

2. Go to the Workflow panel, select Branching.

You can also add and edit logic from the Content panel by clicking the + next to Branching, or by clicking the branching icon beside an answer option for Multiple Choice or other question types with selectable answers. Find out more about where you can access branching logic in our branching logic documentation.

3. Add Branching to your question so that all wrong choices jump to Statement 1 and only the correct answer jumps to Statement 2.

The Branching logic modal displaying rules configured to redirect incorrect answer options to Statement 1 and the correct choice to Statement 2.

4. Now, set a rule on each of your Statements, so that they always jump to the next question in the quiz.

The logic rule interface establishing that a feedback Statement question will automatically skip or jump forward to the next quiz question.

Tip! Note that there’s no way to see if answers are right or wrong in your Results. However, you can use variables to add 1 point to every correct answer and 0 to incorrect ones. This will allow you to easily filter all right and wrong answers when exporting your results.
