FAQ with AI is a conversational AI-powered question that lets your respondents ask the form questions and receive immediate AI-generated answers based on the knowledge base you’ve defined.
This question type combines the knowledge base you’ve created for your form with conversational AI to provide accurate, contextual answers. FAQ with AI uses Anthropic to generate accurate answers to the respondents questions.
The FAQ with AI question is available on our Talent, Growth and Enterprise plans.
How to add a FAQ with AI question
- Create a new form or open up an existing one, and click + Add content.
- Select FAQ with AI under Text & Video.
- You’ll see a legal disclaimer. Click Accept to continue.
Note: You can’t use the FAQ with AI question in your form if you click Decline on the legal disclaimer.
- Now you’ll be prompted to add the AI knowledge base your form will be using to answer questions from your respondents.
- Copy and paste the knowledge base you want to add and click Save when you’re done. You can add up to 20,000 characters to this field.
Here are a few recommendations for building an AI knowledge base:
- Keep in mind that the better the input you provide, the better the output will be by the AI
- Divide the information you’re adding into clear sections
- Use simple, everyday language, and avoid adding redundant information
- We recommend using a Markdown editor to format your content

Make sure to keep the following limitations in mind:
- You can’t set the FAQ with AI question as required
- The FAQ with AI question does not support video questions
- You can’t use branching logic based on AI-generated responses
- The AI has a maximum response length of 300 characters
- There is a limit of 20 Q&A pairs per submission
- Once you’ve added your knowledge base, you can edit it by clicking the pencil icon next to AI Knowledge.
- Adjust your knowledge base as needed, and click Save.
- You can click the Preview icon to ask the AI some test questions.
- Here you can test out how your FAQ with AI question will work by typing a question and clicking Ask AI.
- Below you can see the answer provided by the AI to a simple question about the event. Click Ask another question to do just that.

Viewing your responses to the FAQ with AI question
The results to the FAQ with AI question will appear as a new column in the Responses table. Here you will see an AI-generated summary of the questions asked by your respondents.
Click the expand icon or the See transcript button a response to view the questions people asked. This will open a detailed view showing individual questions and the AI-generated answers to each question.
Compatibility with webhooks and integrations
FAQ with AI data is compatible with existing Typeform integrations, including:

- Google Sheets
- Slack
- HubSpot
- Mailchimp
- Excel
- Airtable
- Notion
- Pipedrive
Data sent to these integrations is structured as user and AI assistant pairs, similar to the Clarify with AI question type.
Language Support
The AI automatically detects the language your respondents are using, and it will generate responses accordingly.
We recommend setting a primary form language for optimal performance.
