Activating the data enrichment feature shares respondent email addresses with third-party providers, which provides the enriched data to Typeform. Some privacy laws, including the GDPR, require you to provide notice and obtain specific consent from your respondents when sharing data with a third party.
If your business operates in a region where user consent is required when sharing data with third parties, you can use the solutions in this article to ask for it.
Here are two simple ways to gather respondents’ consent.
Use an Email question
1. Toggle on Enrich form responses in your form settings.
Include an Email question in your form set up, as shown below. Do not set the question as required.
Write in the question description that respondent data will be shared with a third party for enrichment:
This will mean that
a: Your respondents are informed that their data will be enriched.
b: Your respondents will be able to freely skip the question, if consent is not given.
2. Alternatively, turn off the Enrich form responses toggle in your form settings.
Include an Email question in your form set up, as shown below. Do not set the question as required.
This will mean that
a: Your respondents’ data will not be enriched.
b: You will be able to capture the lead according to your respondents’ will.
Use a Multiple Choice question with Logic
1. Toggle on Enrich form responses in your form settings.
2. Add a Multiple Choice question to your form, asking for consent for data enrichment:
3. Add two email questions. The first one will have data enrichment enabled by default, and the other disabled by default. This is because only the first email question in a form collects enrichment data.
5: Now we're going to use Branching and calculations to send respondents to the enrichment- enabled email question if they choose "I consent", and to the other if they don't. Click on Logic, then choose Branching and calculations. Set up the rules as shown here:
This will allow your respondents to choose whether they consent to data enrichment or not.
