AI-moderated research means an AI moderator leads the session with your participants instead of a person running every interview live. In Research Flow, you set up the study, decide what you want to learn, and give the AI moderator instructions. The AI moderator then runs the session based on that plan.
Study structure
A study in Research Flow usually follows this structure:
-
Welcome and context
- Set expectations for the participant. Explain what the session covers and how long it will take. A clear welcome helps participants engage more openly.
-
Screener questions (optional)
- Ask a few qualifying questions to check whether someone is the right fit for the study, and continue or end the session based on their answers.
-
Greeting and warm-up (optional)
- Build rapport before diving into core questions. Use this section to gather basic context and confirm the participant understands the topic at hand.
-
Your research questions
- The heart of your study. The AI moderator asks your core questions and probes with intelligent follow-ups to surface specific examples, reasoning, and details. You can also display stimuli — images, concepts, copy, or prototype screenshots — and ask participants to react to them.
-
Ending
- Close the session by thanking the participant and ending the session.
End-to-end flow
Here's the full process, from building your study to reviewing your findings:
- You create the study structure by setting up each section: Welcome → Screener questions → Greeting → Questions → Ending.
- You tell the AI moderator what your research goal is, what personality it should have, set some guardrails, add any helpful company or product context, and what format the session should follow (text, voice, or voice and video).
- You share the study through a link or through participant recruitment.
- Participants join a real-time session with the AI moderator.
- After the session, Research Flow generates transcripts, session summaries, multi-media assets like highlight reels and clips, and an AI-powered Insights view to help you analyze patterns across sessions.
