When you’re using Logic, it’s important that you put them in the right order, or your form may not work correctly. This article explains how to get it right.
Note: Logic isn't available on our mobile builder. Edit your form on a desktop to get the full power of Logic!
If Logic is set up to skip a question, you cannot use Logic later on to send people back to that same skipped question.
This form starts by asking you about cats and dogs. If you answer ‘Dog’ then Logic sends you to Question 4, ‘Do you have a dog?, skipping questions 2 and 3.
But then, on Question 4 when you try to set logic to send you to Question 3, you'll see an error message.
You won't be able to save this logic because Question 3 was skipped earlier because of the previous logic rule to skip Question 3. This will break the form!
To avoid this, you have to order the questions differently, so that users can't skip questions that they have to return to later.
You can either add the skipped question again later in the form, or you can rearrange the question order. In this example, we rearranged Question 3 ‘Do you want more pets?’ to after Question 4 'Do you have a dog?'. This means it won’t be skipped by people who go down the Dogs logic path.
This setup will work perfectly. Respondents can't skip questions that they might have to return to later, and the form won’t get stuck.
So remember: question order matters!
