Last fall, we started rolling out a new version of our builder (here’s a guide!), where you create and edit your typeforms, with improved Logic and easy access to all our features. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be fully retiring our Classic builder, and typeforms that haven’t yet made the change will be switched over to the new and improved builder.
Before we get started...
The new typeform is evolving all the time, and while we intend for this guide to be up to date, if you see something that looks a bit different, don't worry!
What does the New builder look like?
Here's a typeform being created in the New builder:

What does the Classic builder look like?
Here's a typeform built in the Classic builder:
When will my account be switched to the New builder?
Some users’ accounts have already been switched to the New builder. We will be gradually rolling it out to the rest of our users in July and August 2021. If you don't see it already, you will get an email soon informing you about it. Check for an email from Typeform, in case you missed it!
Does the New builder include any features that the Classic builder doesn’t?
Yes! With the New builder, you can add Ranking and Matrix questions, as well as Text variables, to your typeform. We’ve also boosted typeforms’ logical powers with Branching and calculations and a redesigned Logic Map.
My account was already switched to the New builder - will anything change for me?
No. Accounts that were already switched to the New builder will not see changes to their builder, although we may release small updates to the New builder during this time.
Can I request not to switch my account to the New builder?
We’ve designed the New builder with user experience in mind: all of the features of the Classic builder are included, and we’ve added requested features like Ranking and Matrix questions and Branching and calculations. To make sure you have the best experience possible in Typeform, we’ll be moving all accounts to the New builder, and will be fully retiring the Classic builder.
Can I go back to the Classic builder after I’ve been switched?
Once your account has switched to the New builder, you will not be able to edit typeforms in the Classic builder anymore. We’ll let you know when the change will happen, so you can be ready!
What will happen to my typeforms created in the Classic builder?
You will still be able to edit and use typeforms created when the Classic builder was active. We will automatically move these forms from the Classic to the New builder. When you open one of these forms from your Workspace, you will see the New builder interface, but all of your questions, templates, design settings, form settings, and results will be saved.
Typeforms that had a “Classic” tag in the Workspace will no longer show this tag, as they will be moved to the New builder.
Will the typeforms I made in the Classic builder stop collecting responses or be deactivated?
No. Active typeforms will continue to collect responses. If you edit these forms, however, you’ll see the New builder instead of the Classic builder.
What will happen to my forms that use Logic Jumps and Calculator?
The logic in these typeforms will be transferred over to Logic in the New builder. Follow the links to learn more about Logic and calculations in this builder.
Where is the Logic Map?
You can view the Logic Map in the New builder by going to the Logic tab in the right-hand sidebar of the Create panel.
What will happen to my integrations, webhooks, or other workflows that use Typeform?
Your integrations will stay active, and you can view or edit them from the Connect panel of the New builder. Since your typeforms will stay active after the builder switch, workflows using Typeform should continue to work properly.
Your Typeform webhooks and APIs will not be affected by this change.
What will happen to my typeform settings?
You will be able to access your typeform settings in the New builder by clicking the gear icon in the Create panel. Current form settings, like custom links, notifications, and time to complete, will not be affected by the switch to the New builder.
Will my respondents notice anything different about the typeform?
This update affects the builder, or the Create panel in the platform. While there are some small visual differences between the Classic and New builders (for example, the progress bar), respondents should have a similar experience when filling out a typeform built in the New builder.
Can I make typeforms on my mobile device with the New builder?
Yes! Create on mobile is still in development, but we think it's already useful enough for you to start creating beautiful typeforms. Learn more here.
