Combine an Outcome quiz with Logic branching

This article shows you how to combine Branching, which only shows questions that are relevant to respondents, with the Outcome quiz feature, which shows different Endings to your respondents based on their answer combinations. You can also combine Outcome quiz with Branching to show different Endings and set specific Branching rules to override the rules set for Outcome quiz. Read on to learn more!

Note: Logic isn't available on our mobile builder just yet. Edit your form on desktop to get the full power of Logic!

Show relevant questions and different Endings

In this example, we’ll set logic for Branching to show relevant questions and Outcome quiz to show different Endings based on respondents answers , which you can find in the Workflow panel.

In our form we ask ‘How does your hair feel?’ with the answer options 'Dry' or 'Oily'. The answer will send them down different logic paths, and later we ask both groups ‘What is your hair goal?’ with the answer options 'Restore moisture', 'Balance oiliness' and 'Boost shine'.

After our last question to both groups, we want to send people to different custom Ending screens.

If you've selected 'Dry' and 'Restore moisture', we would recommend the Mask product and you would see this Ending.

If you've selected 'Oily' and 'Balance oiliness', we would recommend the Shampoo product and you would see this Ending.

But if you’ve selected either a 'Dry' or 'Oily' and 'Boost shine', we would recommend the Serum product and you would see this Ending.

In the Workflow panel, we'll use Branching to first send people down different paths based on whether they have dry or oily hair. Once they finish answering questions related to their hair type, they’ll all arrive at the hair goal question.

Now we’ll assign Endings to answers with Outcome quiz, like below. People who have dry or oily hair and want to boost shine will see the Ending screen ‘We recommend the Serum‘.

The different Endings will be connected to the rest of the form, like below.

Now you can test your quiz in preview mode and see how the logic works.

Combine Branching with Outcome quiz to show different Endings

You can use Branching rules to show different Endings or Outcome quiz to show different Endings. But you can use both Branching and Outcome quiz together to create specific rules for an Ending. If there are conflicting rules between Branching and Outcome quiz, the Branching rules will override the Outcome quiz logic.

In the example below, we'll show you how you can set this up.

First set your Outcome quiz rules, we've assigned answer choices to different Endings.

Then in Branching you can create an IF rule for a certain combination of answers to THEN go to a specific Ending. In our example below, we want the combination if a respondent selected 'Restore moisture' and 'Oily' to then go to the Ending 'We recommend the Shampoo'.

Once you've set up your logic, we recommend testing out in preview mode.

After you've collected responses to your quiz, you can view the Ending respondents saw in the Responses section of your Results
